Hello, I’m Miranda; cake artist, founder of Pretty Petal Cake Co, mum of two and wife of one!
In early 2024, I took the leap to leave my long-term career in Higher Education Events and Marketing to focus fully on my cake business — a decision fuelled by passion, purpose and a desire to do something truly creative.
The story really begins back in 2014, when my daughter was born almost four months early. She spent the first three months of her life in intensive care. We were incredibly lucky to bring her home healthy after a three-month rollercoaster stay in hospital. That experience changed everything for me. It gave me a fresh perspective on life, a new sense of purpose and eventually, it led me to cake.
I began baking to create special birthday cakes for my children. True to my perfectionist nature, I immersed myself in learning, experimenting and constantly improving. What started as a creative outlet quickly became a deep passion (and, as it turned out, a bit of a talent!). As requests from friends and family began to grow, so did the dream.
In 2019, a colleague asked me to make her wedding cake. It was a three-tier showstopper that ended up being featured on Channel 4’s The Wedding Fixers. Despite the nerves, I loved every moment. Getting to know the couple, designing something meaningful, and being part of such a special day. I felt a spark I hadn’t felt in years and I knew this was what I wanted to do.In January 2020, Pretty Petal Cake Co. was officially born.
Like many businesses that launched in 2020, the early days were uncertain. But I used the time wisely — training with leading sugar artists, refining my techniques, and focusing on the art of sugar flowers. Over time, the business evolved from celebration cakes and treat boxes into what I truly love: elegant, bespoke wedding cakes.
Today, I work from my dedicated studio which is a calm, professional and inspiring space where I bring my designs to life and host exclusive consultations with my couples. I offer a truly personal and thoughtful experience to all of my clients. Every cake I create is crafted with care and intention, from the first sketch to the final sugar petal. I believe your wedding cake should be more than just a cake. It should be a showpiece that reflects your story, your style and the spirit of your day.
